New Bedford Blue Lane Working Waterfront Connector Survey

The City of New Bedford is studying the roadways in the area outlined on the map below to better understand how they work today and identify needs and opportunities for improvement. The goal of the study is to make travel through the area easier and safer for everyone by improving traffic flow, making it easier and more enjoyable to walk and bike, improving intersections and roadway crossings, and planning for future transportation needs for all.

Take their survey! The survey is an opportunity to share your experiences traveling through the Blue Lane Working Waterfront Connector (BLWWC) project area. They want to hear about your travel habits, any safety concerns you have, and the improvements you would like to see. Your feedback will help shape the project’s recommendations and future design.

Become a Matching Donor

Team South Coast Bikeway Alliance (SCBA) is participating in the Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride on Sunday, October 4 2026. SCBA seeks a matching donation from your company to our nonprofit for every dollar Team SCBA raises for the Buzzards Bay Coalition Watershed Ride.  

Regional partnering for better bike riding is essential to us. The Coalition’s Watershed Ride engages many of our supporters in a fitness and fundraising challenge that showcases our region’s exceptional bike-riding landscape. Over the years, our riders have raised $135,665 for the Coalition. In our family-friendly bicycling event, Pedal for the Path, we’ve raised over $22,000 riding the Bikeway route from Westport through New Bedford and Fairhaven to Mattapoisett and back. We’ve also received corporate grants totaling $10,000 from BayCoast Bank, $80,000 from Community Preservation Act funds combined from Westport, Dartmouth, and New Bedford, and $325,000 from the Commonwealth’s MassTrails grant program. 

The funds raised from SCBA sponsorships will be used as matching funds for design, engineering, and build grants to complete the South Coast Bikeway, a planned cycling route from Rhode Island to Cape Cod Canal. Team SCBA’s goal is $20,000.

SCBA is a 501 (c) (3) organization whose mission is to assist our member communities in completing their portion of the South Coast Bikeway. Last year, our team raised over $44,770, bringing the total to over $135,665 for the Buzzards Bay Coalition over the last 10 years. Let’s make this our best year yet by supporting our two causes.

TEAM SCBA NOW FORMING for the WATERSHED RIDE

Team South Coast Bikeway Alliance (SCBA) is riding in the October 4 Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride. We are looking for more team members. If you have ridden as an individual in the past or are taking on the challenge for the first time, please join the South Coast Bikeway team. The funds you raise for the Coalition will be matched by SCBA sponsors, benefiting two causes.

The SCBA has been permitted to “piggyback” on the Watershed Ride fundraising. Whatever you raise for Buzzards Bay may be matched by (still-to-be-determined) donors to the SCBA. Thank you for your support! Donate or join our team here. Join our team and ride with us for clean water and the South Coast Bikeway. Use code SCBIKEWAY at registration for $15 off before August 1.

If you don’t ride, please consider donating to the SCBA team or the South Coast Bikeway.  Funds raised will be used as matching funds for design, engineering, and build grants to complete the South Coast Bikeway, a planned cycling route from Rhode Island to the Cape Cod Canal. In 2025, as the TOP FUNDRAISING TEAM, we raised over $43,800 for clean water and $1300 for the South Coast Bikeway, for over $135,665 for the Buzzards Bay Coalition over the last 10 years. Bikes & Beers New Bedford Ride!

The South Coast Bikeway Alliance is the official charity partner for the Bikes & Beers New Bedford Ride, a scenic and fun ride through the greater New Bedford area. Register today and support better bicycling facilities on the South Coast, all while cycling and then celebrating at Cisco Brewers! 

Register for Massachusetts’ Annual Bikes & Beers New Bedford – Bike Ride & Beer Festival 2026, the premier cycling event series departing from CISCO BREWERS in New Bedford, MA! Choose your challenge from a 15, 30, or 45-mile ride through the beautiful areas of trail and less-traveled roads surrounding South Coast Massachusetts, complete with morning fuel stations, fully marked routes, rest stops, and SAG support for all riding levels. Finish back at CISCO for an unforgettable post-ride beer festival atmosphere, where you’ll enjoy two complimentary craft beers in an official B&B pint glass, live music, food trucks, games, sponsor giveaways, and a massive charity raffle with over $3,000 in prizes, all while benefiting local cycling charities. Have fun and give back!
